The Green Materialist is a green materials consultancy in concert with an established interior design practice, Synthesis Interiors & Color. Rachelle founded Synthesis in 2007 to bring eco-friendly interior design to a wide range of clientele. She takes a holistic approach to her work, engaging clients in a joyful, collaborative process that balances form, function, and sustainability. Rachelle sees the potential of designers as change-makers and leaders in the community.
When she’s not hiking or on the yoga mat, Rachelle teaches Interior Finishes and Materials in the Interior Design and Interior Architecture Department of UC-Berkeley Extension, her design alma mater. She also volunteers as the Outreach Coordinator of the West Berkeley Design Loop, promoting cross pollination of the East Bay’s bounty of design resources.
