For over 25 years Cate Leger, co-founder of Leger Wanaselja Architecture, has focused on making green architecture beautiful. She and the firm are best known for their innovative use of materials including used shipping containers, salvaged street signs and junked car parts.
Cate has focused on green architecture since she began her graduates studies at UC Berkeley in 1991. She worked at William McDonough Architects and Sim Van Der Ryn’s Ecological Design Institute prior to joining her husband in their own firm in 1996. Their work has won several awards, including one of the first national AIA Top Ten Green building awards, and been featured in many books, magazines, television stories, documentaries, and newspapers for its explorations and innovations in green design.
