Larry Strain has a 40 + year background in sustainable design, with an expertise in materials. He studied at the Farallones Institute in Occidental in the 1970’s, and wrote the Guideline Specifications, in Building Green’s GreenSpec Directory. He has designed many deep green projects including LEED Platinum, net zero energy and AIA COTE Top 10 projects. He has spoken on materials, sustainability and embodied carbon at conferences throughout the country. He is a past board member of the Northern California Chapter of the USGBC, serves on the boards of the Ecological Building Network and the Carbon Leadership Forum (CLF) and on the AIA Materials Knowledge Working Group and). For the past decade, he has focused on reducing the total carbon footprint of our buildings.
